Duncan Weldon is a British economist, journalist, and author. He regularly writes for the Financial Times, New Statesman, and other publications on economic topics and was previously the Economics Correspondent at Newsnight – the BBC’s flagship nightly current affairs programme, the Britain Economics Correspondent at The Economist and an Associate Editor at Prospect, a current affairs magazine. He began his career at the Bank of England and has also worked in asset management and public policy before switching to journalism. He is the author of Two Hundred Years of Muddling Through, an economic history of Britain since the Industrial Revolution. He has written and presented a series of radio documentaries on economic and economic history topics and is a regular television and radio commentator on macroeconomics.
